Men's Therapy Online in BC

Specializing in trauma, midlife transitions, and emotional health for men. Online across BC.

A lot of men who come to see me have spent years doing everything right. They worked hard, built something, showed up for the people around them. Then somewhere in their 40s or 50s, it stopped feeling like enough. Not because anything went wrong. Because something feels missing, and they're not sure they're allowed to say that out loud.

A serene landscape featuring a tranquil lake surrounded by mountains and lush greenery.

Who I Work With

Most of the men I see fall into one of a few situations. Some are dealing with trauma, either something specific that happened or a longer pattern that built up over years. Some are navigating midlife and finding that the plan they followed doesn't feel like theirs anymore. Some are carrying anxiety or depression that they've managed quietly for a long time, and it's starting to cost more than they can afford.

Some are first responders or military members carrying the weight of what that work involves. Some are men who specifically want to work with a male counsellor. Others don't care about that at all, and that's fine too.

How I Work

I believe therapy works best when the approach is shaped around the person, not the other way around. I pay close attention to what you're experiencing, what you're hoping to change, and try to find what will be most helpful for you.

My work is grounded in established, evidence-based approaches. I use structured methods, clinical assessment, and proven therapeutic strategies to help you understand patterns, develop new skills, and create meaningful change. At the same time, therapy is not a formula. The work needs to fit the person in front of me.

Some clients benefit from a focused, structured approach with clear goals and practical strategies. Others need more space to reflect, explore, and make sense of their experiences. Most people need some combination of both. I draw from a range of established therapeutic approaches and tailor the work to your situation rather than applying the same process to everyone.

I'm also honest about timelines. Some people come for a specific issue, do the work, and feel ready to move forward after a relatively short period. Others discover that addressing one concern leads to deeper questions and decide they want to continue. Both are completely valid.

Throughout the process, I'll be straightforward about what I think will best serve you. And if I don't believe I'm the right person to help, I'll tell you and do my best to connect you with someone who is.

About Pete

I'm Pete Jamieson, a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC #22341) and member of the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. I hold a Master's in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and a Master's in Human Kinetics (Coaching Science) from UBC.

Before counselling, I spent decades as a high-performance sport coach and high school teacher. That background shapes how I work with people who have been carrying a lot for a long time and aren't sure where to put it. I'm interested in what's actually going on underneath, not just the presenting problem.

Getting Started

We start with a free 15 to 20 minute phone consultation. No commitment, no sales pitch, just a conversation to see if it makes sense to work together. If I'm not the right fit, I'll point you somewhere that is.
